Martins completes a significant investment in additional printing capacity
Due to rising book volumes returning to the UK in order to access the improved supply chain benefits and lower carbon footprint of the transportation, Martins decided at the start of 2020 that it had to double its printing capacity. Covid 19 obviously delayed this project but finally the new press a Roland 708 Direct Drive incorporating the latest technology was installed in March 2021 and fully commissioned in April. This investment includes a high capacity CTP plate maker, and a new Stahl folder to cope with the additional volume. We are pleased to recognise the financial support given to us for this project by the “European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development”.

Martins switches totally to 100% Process Free Printing Plates

After significant testing the plates were introduced in May 2021. The change has been very successful with no water being consumed in this process since and zero chemical waste being produced.
